From Art Bailie, class of 65`

The list of the Augusta Marines of the 19th Battalion, (accessible) below, was included in an article written by Bill Humphries for the 11/14/1940 edition of the Augusta Chronicle.  These men had reported initially for active duty at the Marine Barracks, Norfolk Navy Yard and then on to other assignments during WWII.  The spelling of some names may be incorrect, but I transposed them as originally written in the newspaper.  The 80th anniversary of the organization of the 19th Battalion will be in December of 2016.

Many of you probably are the children of many of these Marines.  As I continue to research the history of the 19th Battalion, I would be honored to have any interested individuals contact me to share of your remembrances of our Marine fathers.  Contact me at ajbailie@comcast.net.  I will also be at the Class of ’65 reunion.          Thanks, Art Bailie
